As you know, Jen and I along with the other hardcourt members lived and breathed Hardcourt. Let me tell you what i learned in hardcourt and why it still means alot to me --- 10 years later! This is one great thing that Assumption did for my life. The 3 years i spent in Hardcourt changed my outlook in life and brought me to where i am today. Here is an excerpt of the letter i wrote Hardcourt 2000 as a coach. Btw, they won first place!!!:

Like I’ve said time and time again during practices, the lessons learned from hardcourt will help you throughout your lives:

Work Hard, but Play Harder! While working, work harder than you ever worked before. Be meticulous. Be sharp. Be strong. Stay focused. Smile. Have fun with what you’re doing. Find a way to make the work fun. Most of all, be a perfectionist! While playing, play hard. BUT stay focused AND Be safe. Love life through playing.

When you fall, get up and recover fast! When you make a mistake, smile bigger and perform better! In everything you do, Smile- Point- Exaggerate and Flirt! Stand tall! Stand proud! Be proud of WHO you are! Forget WHAT you are or WHERE you come from! It’s only WHO you are that counts!

.... In everything in life and just like how we choreograph, remember that if you can dream it, you can do it!

... Assumption Hardcourt has left the legacy of discipline and self-confidence. With those two attributes in your life, NOTHING WILL BREAK YOU! There is nothing you need in life except discipline and self-confidence. Learn when to work and when to party! Be humble in character, but always take pride in your work!

Remember that Life is a dance – you have to feel the music, have the music in your heart and enjoy what you’re doing. Love the dance and the dance will show you the way to victory! When you’re tired of doing something, don’t give up! Dance stronger and harder! Dance, Study, Party … and Live like there’s no tomorrow! Live Life to its Fullest!

Every lesson I have mentioned I have tried to continuously practice everyday of my life. All of these lessons sum up to what I call the Assumption Tradition of Hardcourt!

Keep the Tradition alive! Live the Tradition! Pass on the Tradition! You guys are Champions now!!! Stand Tall and Stand Proud! And most of all, SMILE!!!!
