Sr. Marie Emmanuel, r.a.
High School Guidance Coordinator
Our former Yr. 1 Class Adviser

One thing I remember about your class (I had you in first year, you were my last class here because after your class, I moved to Antipolo) ... one thing I remember about your class, which I'm very proud of and I still share, is that you were the only class that practiced the Honor System. Yes, you prove that it is possible.

So right now, SCB-A this year is sponsoring the Honor System, and when I begin to talk to them about what your class did -- how many years ago... four, no, eight years ago -- they could not believe. Can you believe that your whole year level was responsible enough to take exams without a proctor? (some laughs from the audience)

While you were gone for those four years in college, we celebrated the Jubilee Year: 100 years of Assumption in the Philippines. While you were gone we had a new Mother General, three college presidents, and the High School had 2 new principals. While you were gone, Mrs. Magtaas has retired (meows from the audience), Mrs. Huab has gone back to God, Mrs. Ramos has retired, and Mrs. Villafania has gone to the college as a faculty member.

I only have one message for your class. It's not really a message but something to help you look back. I would like to share with you something said by Marie Eugenie. She said, "Nothing in life happens by chance. Whatever has happened has been part of God's plan. And that plan is a plan of love."

As you look back to your four years in college today, I hope that at the end of this day when you take your dinner tonight, you will reaffirm and say, "Yes, it is true, what happened to us in college has been a part of God's plan. It is God's will, and that plan has been good." Even if there was pain for some of you, a lot of struggles in your own life, when you look back at your four years, you will realize that what has happened has been part of God's plan.

So welcome back to Assumption, and the next time you come back will be 5 or 6 years from now for Balik Ugat 2 and you'll be with your children. (Yikes! from the audience)
